Like our horses, we prefer to live in the most natural enviornment that we can. We are proud of our pesticide-free maintenance program! After accessing our impact on the planet, we now manage the land in an environmentally thoughtful way. Instead of spraying once a month with toxic pesticides, we use a shallow drag on the arena and leave the Rocky Mountain Bee Balm alone. Our “Mower Guru” (Lenore) has come up with the term “Conservation Mowing”, meaning that large swaths and designated areas are left natural. Not only do the horses enjoy the extra grazing, but we’ve seen an increase in healthy insects, toads and wildlife. We enjoy being a gentle sanctuary for the Bees, Rabbits and even the local Turkeys!

No harsh chemicals: Good for the Earth. Good for the horses. Good for us!

Round Pen

Our 50’ round pen is located in the trees, which gives you some nice shade.

Arena Riding

150’ x 200’ of sand for sure footing. Barrels and poles are available as well as flat-work areas for training.

Competence

Overseeing the daily management of Lucky Stars Barn is the owner, Lenore. Her on-site residence provides a secure environment and she gives attention to detail. She and her staff take time to know the horses and their personalities; they pay attention to changes. Friendly and approachable with no barn drama, you can rest assured your horse is receiving premium care.

Convenience

We have provided a central area where you can groom or tack right at your trailer, or at the tie bar. You can meet the farrier or vet, or chat with other boarders. Outdoor lights and electricity are conveniently located here, as well as the Tack Room and seating. The main parking lot is only a few short steps away, so you don’t have to waste time walking to your car.

Kind Hearted

Our New Horse Introduction is a unique service which we provide to all new arrivals. On the day your horse arrives, we don’t just turn them into the herd. Instead, we give them the time they need to adjust to all the new sights, sounds and smells. Initially, they meet their new friends over poly-coated fencing. We have a gentle process of integration which is horse-led. Once your horse is ready to join their new herd, Lenore will personally oversee the process.

Care

We only feed barn stored, premium hay which is delivered fresh from our supplier. Each bale is checked before it’s fed. Every horse drinks cool, clean water from our automatically filled waterers, which are heated in the winter. Cleaning of the shelters and eating areas is done daily.

Comfort

We keep our seniors safe. We have an enclosure devoted entirely to those special old ones. They’ve served you well and worked hard their entire life. Now, it’s their time to relax. Since most elderly horses deal with a slower metabolism and arthritis, herd life is quiet and relaxed. Naps are long and there aren’t any demands from the sassier, younger horses. The senior barn is big and has ample shelter; centrally located so they can enjoy watching all the activity.
